Non-Medical Services

The challenges of aging, an unexpected health episode, or chronic illness may affect you or your loved one’s ability to perform activities of daily living. Sometimes just a little bit of help can make all the difference and empower you to stay at home safely and independently while maintaining an enhanced lifestyle.

Whatever the situation, we are here to help, offer hope and give you peace of mind.
Below are some of the non-medical services we provide:

Sometimes, just a few hours in the morning to start the day and a few hours in the evening to end the day is all you need. Our caregivers can prepare breakfast, check mom’s pillbox to ensure that she took her AM meds, be in the house while she showers, just in case, lay out her clothes on the bed, and prepare and plate lunch for later. We can come back again in the evening to prepare dinner, accompany mom while she eats, help her change into her nightgown, and tuck her in for the night.

What used to be simple tasks like changing the bed linens, getting the mail at the end of the driveway, or going grocery shopping may now be not only taxing and risky, but impossible anymore. Perhaps help just twice a week will take care of these tasks for now.

Maybe since your spouse passed on and/or your adult children either work full-time or live out of state, you are lonesome for some clever conversation or a good game of Scrabble. Our caregivers can accompany you to Photography Club, Shakespeare Club or take you for a ride to see the beautiful fall foliage of Hudson Valley.

Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease can be debilitating and life-changing not only for the client afflicted with the disease, but to those family members involved in that loved one’s care. Our trained caregivers with dementia experience can help you share the responsibility of caring for your loved one.

Perhaps you are the primary caregiver for your loved one and you need a break, also known as respite care. Knowing your loved one is not home alone but safely under the care and supervision of our caregivers, allows you to step away with peace of mind, to clear your mind and relax with a walk around the block, join a gym, attend a yoga class or get that mani/pedi.

Your discharge plans most probably include a follow-up appointment with your primary doctor. We can help you here also – making sure you get to your appointments and
back too!

You may be discharged with anticipated help from Visiting Nurse Services, but that can take a few days to a week to put in place and services may be limited and temporary. Many clients supplement Visiting Nurse Services hours with our service. Plus, we offer evening and weekend hours.

We can provide dependable, comforting end-of- life care for your loved one during this very difficult time offering support to the family. Whether sitting bedside with them to offer a sip of water, comfort through holding hands to assisting them to walk to the bathroom, we can help.

Hospice services typically only offer a few hours daily Monday through Friday. We can be there seven days including weekends and overnights which are often much-needed during those final months and weeks. For those clients at end-of-life stages, we view our role as an opportunity to comfort them on their journey home.

Facilities do all they can to provide a safe environment for your loved one, but it’s impossible for them to provide one-on-one coverage for all their patients/residents. Sometimes, families will be required to provide 24/7 coverage for their loved one to ensure their safety. For example, if the client has dementia, is a fall risk and continues to try to get out of bed or is a flight risk and wants to leave the facility and go home.
